Initial Visit & Consultation

After contacting us we will arrange an initial visit to discuss your garden and familiarise you with the way we work. At this first meeting we will discuss all of your ideas, your tastes, budgets and requirements for your new garden. This will then form the brief we work towards during the designing process. Upon completing this process we will be able to advise and suggest realistic budgets you should look to be spending for the garden build. Our design quotation will be based on a percentage of this total budget. All quotes will be typed up in a formal letter to clarify the brief and confirm the design costs involved before going any further. A copy of our percentage pricing scheme will also be provided allowing for clear breakdown of the different design stages costs.

Site Survey

An accurate survey of the existing garden is needed before any design work can commence. This is usually undertaken by ourselves, or on larger gardens/ more complex sites, a registered land surveyor. A site survey shows the house, all surrounding boundaries, existing features and levels required for the subsequent preparation of the garden design.

Outline Plan/Masterplan

The garden design consists of a hand coloured Outline Plan (or Masterplan for larger sites) together with hand drawn visuals, 3D computer models and perspectives to give you a clear impression of how the finished garden will look. Mood boards can also be produced to give further pictoral aid to the proposed design. This documentation acts as a discussion forum allowing us to present our ideas and talk you through the gardens design concept. At this stage any further suggestions or amendments can be made (sometimes subject to further charges if large alterations) before drawing up the final blueprint for the garden design.

Layout Plan/Construction Drawings

The Layout Plan incorporates any amendments agreed with you and is the plan from which the project will be accurately costed, set out and finally built from. Construction drawings of specific garden structures, water features or hard surfaces will be required and will accompany the Layout Plan. Along with a specification document, this will form the basis for an accurate and detailed build quote to be drawn up.

Planting Plans & Schedules

Also included in the design fee is a planting plan for your new garden. The Planting Plan shows the location and spacing of all the plants, both new and existing, in the design. An accompanying Schedule list consisting of the plant names, sizes and quantities is used for costing, ordering, setting out and general aftercare of the plants.

Planting & Maintenance

After the garden has been constructed we are able to source, supply and set out all the plants in your garden and organize the planting. We will also provide an easy to understand chart highlighting various maintenance guidelines for the new planting. This can prove invaluable if you are looking to maintain your garden yourself. For the less green fingered we also offer a Maintenance and Aftercare service for gardens we built and for customers simply looking for regular maintenance visits.
